Fall Prevention

Falls aren't inevitable

One in three seniors falls every year. Most of those falls are preventable. We assess the risks, strengthen what's weak, fix what's dangerous, and help your loved one stay on their feet.

Is this right for you?

Every family's situation is different. If any of these sound familiar, you don't have to figure it out alone โ€” we can help.

Has your loved one fallen recently, even once?
Are they unsteady on their feet or holding onto furniture to walk?
Do they have difficulty getting in or out of the bath, bed, or chair?
Are they afraid of falling and avoiding activities because of it?
Does their home have hazards like loose rugs, poor lighting, or no grab bars?
Are they taking medications that cause dizziness or drowsiness?

WHAT'S INCLUDED

A comprehensive approach

Balance, strength, gait, functional mobility โ€” our physiotherapists identify what's putting your parent at risk. Not guessing, testing.

โ€œDad fell twice in three months. The second time he broke his wrist. We were terrified it would be his hip next. Haven at Home did both assessments โ€” the physio found his balance was terrible on his left side, and the OT found the bathroom was a death trap. Six weeks of physio plus some modifications, and he's steadier than he's been in years. We actually stopped holding our breath.โ€

THE PROCESS

How the assessment works

1

Fall Prevention Assessment (Physiotherapy)

Review of fall history and medical background, balance testing (standing, reaching, turning), strength assessment (legs, core), gait analysis (how they walk), functional mobility (sit-to-stand, stairs), personalized risk score, written exercise program, recommendations for further intervention.

2

Home Safety Walkthrough

Room-by-room walkthrough, observation of how they move through the space, hazard identification, prioritized written recommendations, equipment suggestions with specific products.
