Dementia Care

Care that understands memory loss

Dementia changes everything โ€” how your loved one thinks, communicates, moves through the day. People with dementia fall two to three times more often than other seniors. Our caregivers are trained to meet them where they are, with patience, safety, and the specialized awareness that keeps falls from happening.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Specialized dementia care at home

Specialized training in memory care โ€” the disease progression, behavioral symptoms, and communication techniques that actually work. Not general home care with 'dementia experience.'

โ€œMom has Alzheimer's. She'd become suspicious of everyone โ€” convinced people were stealing from her, refusing to let anyone in the house. I honestly didn't think she'd accept a caregiver. Haven at Home introduced Grace slowly, over three visits while I was there. Now Mom thinks Grace is her friend from church. They bake cookies together, look at photo albums, go for walks. Mom is calmer than she's been in a year. And I finally have three afternoons a week where I'm not on edge.โ€

THE PROCESS

Getting started with dementia care

1

In-depth conversation

Dementia care requires understanding. We'll talk about where your loved one is in the disease progression, what behaviors you're seeing, what's working and what isn't, and what matters most to your family.

2

Caregiver matching

We match based on experience with specific dementia stages and behaviors, personality, communication style, and interests. Someone who can connect with your parent, not just supervise them.

3

Gradual introduction

We don't rush. Your caregiver may visit with you present first, building familiarity before taking over. Transitions are hard for people with dementia โ€” we do them carefully.

4

Ongoing communication

You'll hear from us after shifts. What happened, what worked, what we noticed. We adjust the care plan as the disease progresses.
